why do I need student travel insurance cover?

when you are travelling abroad, you want to make sure that what’s important to you is covered. for example, cancellation cover that will cover the amount that you’ve spent on the trip, just in case you are unable to go, is extremely important. so is cover for your possessions, gadgets and activities, as well as medical expenses just in case you are involved in an accident or get ill. most of our brands on albert & eddie also offer extensions to top-up your cover, so it’s always worth letting us know if you need any specific cover when taking out a quote.

how do you choose the best student travel insurance for you?

the best travel insurance policy will be the one that offers the protection that you need for your trip. let us know during the quote process how much you’ve paid for your trip and we’ll make sure we only match you with policies that have enough cancellation cover for the things that you’ve already paid for in advance of heading off i.e., flights, bus pass, and accommodation. you can also let us know if you need cover for your gadgets and we’ll only present the policies available on albert & eddie that offer this.

does student travel insurance include cover for working abroad?

working abroad is generally covered as standard on most policies offered through albert & eddie. however, there are likely to be restrictions on some of the types of work you can do whilst on holiday. for example, you may be fruit-picking on a farm which will more than likely be covered as standard at no extra cost. whereas, operating farm machinery or heavier equipment will not be. if you’re not sure about what type of working you’ll be getting up to, that’s okay. just contact our team and they’ll be happy to talk you through what policies may or may not cover the working you’ll likely be getting involved in.

does student travel insurance include cover for gadgets?

some policies on albert & eddie will cover gadgets up to a certain amount. and if you need extra cover for your belongings, just let us know during the quote process and we’ll match you with the policies that offer a gadget policy extension. one thing to note, if you are planning to travel with a high value item, then it may be worth checking if you have protection elsewhere, e.g. through your home or content insurance.

does student travel insurance include cover for personal possessions?

most policies available through albert & eddie provide cover for personal possessions as standard, but only up to a certain amount. personal possessions may include specific items such as your clothes, shoes, toothbrush and your bag. if you see a ‘single article limit’ in your policy wording, that means you won’t be covered for more than that amount for any of your items, for example, it could be £100 per item. so, if you’re planning on taking any designer clothes or footwear with you, check out the single article limit within the possessions section of your cover before you pack it.

do student travel insurance policies cover Covid-19?

most of the policies available through albert & eddie offer some form of Covid-19 protection. for example, cancellation cover due to isolating or being hospitalised as a result of a Covid-19 result. however, it’s also worth being aware that many of the policies available through albert & eddie also offer the chance to increase your protection against Covid-19 with a policy extension. just let us know if this is something you’d like to consider during the quote process and we’ll match you with all of the policies available. 

*GHIC is the UK Global Health Insurance Card and the EHIC is the European Health Insurance Card. due to the United Kingdom leaving the European Union, you can now no longer apply for an EHIC. however, any current EHICs will remain valid until their expiry date and you will then need to switch to a GHIC.
